Star Wars Costuming – Helmets, including Don Post 95 Boba Fett & Mystery Fett Helmet Comparison

Star Wars Costuming Helmets Boba Fett Mystery Helmet Don Post 95 Boba Fett Helmet
Here are a few photo’s of various helmets from my personal collection (click the image to make it larger), including an ROTJ paint scheme (Return of the Jedi) Mystery Helmet. The Mystery Helmet is an original cast off from the screen used prop worn by Jeremy Bulloch in Empire Strikes Back. At the bottom I’ve also included a few photographs from Halloween 2005, right after I completed working on the Jetpack for my Boba Fett costume. The costume still isn’t 100% up to my satisfaction, but I’ve put the project down and haven’t picked it back up yet. The helmet, shoulder pads, flack vest, jump suit, bracers, knee pads, belt, Wookie braids, shin tools, boots, are final. I plan on getting the chest pieces from Boba Maker in the UK. It took me over six months to do the assembly and paint work on the jet pack. Now mind you, I wasn’t working on it every single waking minute, but I did put considerable time into it. I should also point out that my costume is designed around how Boba Fett appears in the game Star Wars Galaxies which is kind of a mix of ROTJ and ESB flavors. I’m a big fan of SWGEMU but not NGE. I’ve also included a photo of my homemade EE3 rifle. I made this using some toy gun parts I picked up at Zellers and a local Dollar Store. Total cost was under $15. To put it together I simply used a hack saw to remove the stock and then fitted this into a piece of PVC pipe. I then used the top of a whip cream container for the end barrel. I cut up some thin slices of wood to mimic the barrel on Fett’s screen used EE3 and of course I painted everything black. Afterward, I added the damage by brushing on silver engine paint.

Star Wars Fan Costumes Here is some info about where I got various parts for my completed costume.
The Gauntlets came from Star Fortress Productions which I modified a bit but I plan on doing a bit more paint work with when I have time. The darts and all that are made out of aluminum. The trickiest part was designing a system where they can be worn. The Chest pieces were a major problem because I’m not 5 foot 2. I had to custom fabricate these pieces for that Halloween, but when I hang my armor up on a mannequin I’ll be able to use Bobamaker’s armor set.
The Jumpsuit came from Bobamaker.co.uk it is dyed the same color as Chris’s from Tk409.com I did my own weathering on it. The Knee armor is one part Star Fortress one part Man of War studios custom painted. The actual darts and all that are made out of aluminum. They are very fragile though and don’t hold up too well under use. The boots are CABoots.com modified and weathered by myself. My neigbhor and I made the boot spikes from wood and I painted them. The Wookie Braids came from a guy on thedentedhelmet.com while the Boot Spats came from Chris at TK409.com The Belt came from a guy on thedentedhelmet.com and I weathered it. The extra pouches came from Chris at Tk409.com. The Jetpack Harness which was probably the hardest part of the costume is my own design. The Cod Piece came from Ebay and the flak vest was tailored by my friend’s girlfriend. The gloves are pre-production style there is a guy on thedentedhelmet.com that makes them. Screen accurate Boba Fett costumeThe shoulder pieces were cut from sheet metal with tin snips then we put primered foam on the back. The stickers came from Schuby1’s galactic props on ebay. Jim Schuby is a great guy. The cape is from Chris at TK409.com while the Girth belt (not shown) came from Equinox horse bridles and I’ll be custom dying it.
I don’t even want to think about what I have invested in this costume but an estimate would be around $1200 plus paint and materials. I’ve customized and painted all of the parts mentioned above to my own specifications.

The costume is kind of a marriage between several costumes worn throughout the Star Wars Trilogy. The helmet is Empire Strikes Back. (ESB) Gloves are Pre-Production (Prepro) Jetpack is Return of the Jedi (ROTJ) with some extra battle damage. In general I tried to stay true so all of the original scratches and dents are there but I’ve added a few of my own.Screen Accurate Boba Fett Costume
